    Reminds me of the tale i studied 4 decades ago while i was at school and it was titled "Gift of Magi" in which each of the partner sell their most precious things to buy gift for each other.

      my DH was the first one to read this . He asked me if it was our story until he reached the last line . After reading the last line he kept wondering if I was trying to warn him :D
